Preliminary Exercise 17: Film Production and Postproduction

 Introduction

Hello my wonderful audience! Welcome back to my blog. Today's post is continuing the topic of editing! Woohoo! For our objective today, we will be showing you how we planned editing into the storyboarding part of production.
When storyboarding, it is crucial to make sure you include editing into this process. This is necessary because it helps editors visualize the scene and have a plan for what kind of techniques they will utilize during the post-production phase. The objective of this exercise is for us to demonstrate our comprehension on how to plan editing during the storyboard process. So, our team created a storyboard with the different editing techniques to show our understanding.
Some examples of editing techniques are:
  • Shot Reverse Shot: A director would use this technique to show what the characters are feeling, or to showcase the characters' relationship with each other.

The Wolf of Wall Street (2013)

  • Eyeline Match: A director would use this technique to give the audience narrative information about the two characters.

     Burn After Reading (2008)
Jump Cut: A director would use this technique to maintain momentum and to keep the audience entertained and excited.
The Ring (2002)

Reflection:

In this assignment, we created a storyboard to illustrate our editing techniques and to visualize how scenes will play out with these various types of editing methods. We experimented with the different editing techniques, like the Jump Cut, and we got it done on time!
It was one of our easier assignments, so it was completed fairly quickly. My teammate, Khloe R, drew out the storyboard while we helped out with the story. Thank you so much for tuning in, P is signing off!
