I believe that studying Media Studies is important, because it can help you in future careers, especially if you foresee yourself in a job involving the media(For example, television, radio.) It can also help you understand how the world works, through other people's lenses. I spend multiple hours on various types of media (specifically social media). I consume loads of social media because it's very easy to get drawn into. There's a variety of content that fits all ages. I believe that social media is very engaging to someone in my age group because you can find relatable videos and people that are just like you! Social media is one of the best reminders to know that you're not alone in whatever you're going through.
One thing I find interesting about Media Studies is the fact that we have blogs. I think it's a very creative way to express ourselves. We get to customize our blog, and name it too! Another thing I find interesting about Media Studies is the film that we have to create for our exam. Since I've never done this before, I'm very excited about how it'll go. One last thing I find interesting about Media Studies is the numerous types of media we get to look at and study. Like, film trailers, or radio shows.
On my blog, I will be documenting the opening of a film. I would like to create either a comedic horror spoof dramedy. My target audience are young teenagers(like my age), because I feel like they will enjoy how it's not just a "generic horror film". This media's message will be about how everything is not how it seems. I would have to learn a lot about other teens' comedic sense in order to create my film. I believe that my film will be ready to release in the Spring 2024.
4 strategies/success skills that I will need to create my film are:
- Stay focused and on top of assignments and classwork.
- Make sure to constantly brainstorm more ideas for my film.
- Ask for help when needed.
- Believing in myself.
This will help me become successful in completing Comp 1 with a high score because these 4 strategies lead to productivity, and productivity leads to victory!! The last bullet point is the most important because you cannot pass anything if you have no courage in yourself.
